Volunteer Day – Sunday 28th June 2015

The 2nd of our volunteer days in June was another warm and sunny day.  The team of volunteers and commitee members arrived at the newly installed gates with 2 aims for the day; the fssrt and most important was the creating of steps immediately from the gate so that access to the interior of the wood can be more readily achieved and the 2nd aim was to tidy up the internal footpath that will eventually go towards the glade area at the top of the woodland.  The 3 photos bellow show the team in full swing with step creation.

As can be seen below we also cleared and firmed up on the construction of the main internal footpath that runs fromthe above steps and goes towards The Mound area.  In the long term, it’s hoped that this path will be further improved with shoreing up in areas and hand rails so that this will provide a safer and alternative entry to the woodland.

In addition to path and steps creation, we also checked on other areas.  The photos below show The Mound (with a strong display of Red Campion), a general view of The Glade and finally one of the many fruit trees we’ve planted with a small pear.
